Arabic Calligraphy workshop
- 2 March 2022
- 4pm-6pm
- G006, G Block

Preservation to Perfection.
Experience the beauty of the Thuluth script, the most iconic form in Arabic Calligraphy preserved and cherished over hundreds of years. The 2 hour workshop is a rare insight into the essence of classical Islamic Calligraphy, the centuries-old practice of writing beautiful letters of Arabic origin (Hüsn-i Hat) in precise measurements and proportionality whilst breathing divine aesthetics of masters leading back to the early days of the seventh century.
Jaha - a classically trained calligrapher from the Ottoman School of Calligraphy, Istanbul in Turkey, will lead the workshop and practically demonstrate the traditional way to prepare tools and materials, form letters and add stylistic marks to compose a striking visual piece of work.
This event has been organised in collaboration with the Islamic Society at Loughborough University.
